# Cruz del Eje - Club Náutico — Cruz del Eje, Argentina

The Dique Cruz del Eje is the reservoir of northwest Córdoba, between the mountains, with a large area of open water. This spot is on the north coast, on the grounds of the Club Náutico "Capilla del Monte": you set up and launch on the grass strip at the tip of the club, facing south, and ride in the open water in front of it.

It works with Sur, which comes in with cold fronts and crosses the reservoir towards the shore, and with Sudeste, side-on. The Norte, warm and sometimes strong at the end of winter, is offshore on this bank and pushes you out: it is not advisable to go out from here with it. It is suitable for kitesurf, wingfoil, windsurf and SUP.

To the southwest of the launch is the Isla del Zorro: do not approach it. The coast belongs to the club, so check for access. There are no services or rescue on the shore: do not go out alone. The reservoir level changes a lot between years and leaves logs, stones and mud exposed. In case of emergency call 911 (ambulances 107). The best time is from August to December.

## Local winds

- **Sur** — S (180°), 12–25 kn. South wind, which comes in with cold fronts. It crosses the open reservoir and comes in onshore towards the club shore.. Onshore wind: the safest direction to return. It arrives strong and gusty as the front passes.
- **Sudeste** — SE (135°), 12–25 kn. Southeast wind, side-on towards this shore.. The drift leads towards the west, towards the Isla del Zorro: do not approach it.
