# El Ejido - Punta Entinas — El Ejido, Spain

Punta Entinas is the beach of the Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area, at the eastern end of El Ejido: kilometres of light sand with dunes and pine forest behind, without buildings or services and surrounded by greenhouses inland. It is about 20 minutes from Almerimar and is reached by sandy tracks to an esplanade where you leave the car.

You ride with Levante, the wind people use most, and also with Poniente: in both cases it comes in parallel to the shore, with open water and no obstacles. It is a good spot for kitesurf, windsurf, wingfoil and SUP away from the crowds, but it is an isolated beach: there is no lifeguard service, no beach bars, no school or rental, so it is not advisable to go out alone and you must bring all your gear.

It is a protected area: there is no published regulation regarding kite on this beach, so it is advisable to consult with the Town Hall and the Junta de Andalucía before going, and always respect dunes, vegetation and birds. On the seabed, near the shore, dark patches can be seen (posidonia or rocks, unconfirmed): take care when entering. The beaches of El Ejido are buoyed for swimming from 15 June to 15 September. Forecasts are checked with ARPEGE, ECMWF and ICON.

## Local winds

- **Levante** — E (90°), 12–30 kn. Easterly wind, the most ridden here according to guides. It comes in parallel to the beach shore (side-shore), with open water and no obstacles.. Isolated beach without lifeguard or services: do not go out alone and let someone know.
- **Poniente** — W (270°), 12–30 kn. Westerly wind, also parallel to the shore. It can be ridden, although people usually come with Levante.. Same precaution: isolated beach, no help nearby.

- **Access via sandy track**: Esplanade where you leave the car, at the end of the sandy track from the road.
- **Seabed with dark patches**: Dark patches on the seabed in front of the beach (posidonia or rocks, unconfirmed): be careful when entering.
- **Punta Entinas Lighthouse**: Lighthouse at the point, about 2 km to the east; visual reference.
- **Protected area**: Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area: respect dunes, vegetation and birds.
- **Buoyed zone (summer)**: From 15 June to 15 September the beaches of El Ejido are buoyed for swimming.
