# Fortaleza - Praia do Futuro — Fortaleza, Brazil

Praia do Futuro is the long, open beach to the east of the port of Mucuripe, full of barracas, and the main kite spot in Fortaleza. In 2023 the prefeitura counted four kite schools here. P5 Kite House, with a school, shop, gear storage and restaurant, is the community meeting point: in August 2026 it gathered around 300 kiters for the Downwind da Capital.

In Fortaleza kite is only permitted in the sections established by Municipal Decree 13.942. At Praia do Futuro there are two: between Rua Júlio Silva and Rua Francisco Moreira, where P5 and this launch are located (about 250 m of beach), and further south between the streets Germiniano Jurema and José Cláudio Gurgel Costa Lima. Outside these areas, the practice is prohibited from the sand up to 100 m beyond the break. The press also mentions a ban on Sundays and public holidays on this beach, and beginner lessons cannot be given on Saturdays. Launch and land within the authorised section and stay away from the barracas.

It works with the trade wind, which blows almost daily from July to January, stronger from August to November and in the afternoon; here it comes in side-onshore. From May to July it comes more from the southeast, parallel to the shore, lighter and gustier. From February to April is the rainy season. There is a wide break with waves: enter and exit decisively and respect swimmers and surfers. There are barracas with food, parking next to P5 and hotels along the avenue. In case of emergency call 193 (fire brigade) or 192 (SAMU).
