# Rincón de la Victoria - La Cala del Moral — Rincón de la Victoria, Spain

La Cala del Moral is the dark sand beach with fishing boats to the west of Rincón de la Victoria. Its eastern end finishes at a rock groyne and the cliffs of El Cantal, which mark the start of the classic coastal paddling route: about 2 km of cliffs with karst formations, and 1 km from the Tesoro and Victoria caves.

The spot is on the sand at the eastern end of the beach, with the car park behind. It is a wide and open beach, with chop when it is windy. There is no information regarding access to the caves on a SUP: ask the school in Rincón before paddling towards them.

Hazards and rules: the groyne and the cliffs are made of rocks and the sea breaks against them; with Terral the wind blows offshore and takes you away from the shore. You cannot navigate with a board in the buoyed swimming area: use the marked channels. Forecasts are checked with ARPEGE, ECMWF and ICON.

## Local winds

- **Terral** — NNW (340°), 8–35 kn. North-northwest offshore wind, dry and gusty, which comes down through the mountains of Málaga. With Terral the water near the shore is flat, but the wind pushes boards towards the open sea.. Do not go out with Terral: returning against the wind is very difficult and the coast recedes quickly even if the water looks flat. Check the forecast and the flags before entering, do not paddle alone and always use a leash and life jacket.
