# Rincón de la Victoria - Rincón — Rincón de la Victoria, Spain

Rincón de la Victoria beach (Playa Victoria) is a dark sandy area of about 2 km in front of the town's promenade. It is the most comfortable place in the area to learn SUP: it has a school, beach bars and fishing boats beached on the sand, and the coast continues west towards La Cala del Moral and the El Cantal cliffs.

The spot is in the centre of the beach. Toro SUP, on the Paseo Marítimo, gives paddle surf lessons for all levels, in groups or private, with instructors certified by the International Organization Stand Up Paddle (according to their profile). The beach is straight and open, without breakwaters, with some chop when it's windy.

Hazards and rules: there is no shelter, so with strong Levante or Poniente you have to return against the wind; with Terral the wind blows from land to sea and pushes you away from the shore. In the buoyed bathing area you cannot navigate with a board: use the marked channels. Forecasts are checked with ARPEGE, ECMWF and ICON.

## Local winds

- **Terral** — NNW (340°), 8–35 kn. Offshore wind from the north-northwest, dry and gusty, coming down from the Málaga mountains. With Terral the water near the shore is flat, but the wind pushes boards towards the open sea.. Do not go out with Terral: returning against the wind is very difficult and the coast recedes quickly even if the water looks flat. Check the forecast and flags before entering, do not paddle alone and always use a leash and vest.
