# Torremolinos - Los Alamos Norte — Torremolinos, Spain

Los Álamos Norte is the northern end of Los Álamos beach, in Torremolinos, next to the La Frontera Playa beach bar and about 200 m from the kite section. It is a spot exclusively for windsurf and wingfoil: dark sand, beach bar on the sand, promenade with showers and toilets, and parking nearby.

It is a thermal spot. The afternoon Poniente, side-on and reinforced by the southern sea breeze, blows at 15 to 20 kt on average in spring and summer; in summer, a light thermal from the southeast also kicks in, leaving flat water by the shore, good for learning wingfoil or windsurf in light wind. As evening falls, the wind turns offshore and becomes gusty, so it is advisable to come in early and not stray far from the shore.

Rules and hazards: in summer, riding is not permitted inside the buoyed swimming areas, and the beach gets crowded with bathers next to the beach bar. To the south, there is a kite zone with many kites on a good day: keep your distance. To the northeast, the Arroyo Cañuelo flows out, with murky water and currents after rain. Forecasts should be checked with ARPEGE, ECMWF and ICON.

## Local winds

- **Poniente (térmica de tarde)** — SW (235°), 12–25 kn. The main wind of the spot: Poniente from the west-southwest reinforced by the southern sea breeze, side-on, 15–20 kt average in the afternoon during spring and summer. At sunset it becomes gusty and offshore.. Towards sunset the wind turns offshore and becomes gusty: come in early and do not stray far from the shore.
- **Térmica del sureste** — SE (135°), 8–14 kn. Light summer thermal breeze from the southeast: comes in onshore and leaves flat water near the shore, good for learning and for freestyle.. In light wind do not stray far: you must be able to return to the shore.

- **Chiringuito La Mar del Garum**: Beach bar 80 m to the south.
- **Swimming zone (summer)**: In summer the beach front is buoyed for swimming; no riding inside the buoys.
- **Mouth of the Arroyo Cañuelo**: Stream that flows out 150 m to the northeast: murky water and currents after rain.
